I had the pleasure of working with Kayla Brown while editing the manuscript for my second thriller novel. I was not disappointed.
Throughout the process, Kayla and I spoke in detail about the book, my writing style and where I saw the book going, and that was before she began editing for me! Once she had a chance to review my work, which she did so quickly but thoroughly, I was impressed with the way she really took time to get into the story and get to know the characters.
Kayla ensured we spoke both before, during and after the process and kept me fully up-to-date with what was happening and how she was getting on. Once she had finished, I found the results were clear, concise and helped me not only improve my manuscript, but also improved my writing as a whole.
Kayla is approachable and easy-going, yet she works tirelessly to offer improvements, suggestions, edits, additions and removals of parts of the writing which cause the story to slow or stagnate. Instantly, she spotted ways I could improve and offered suggestions and alternatives. It was brilliant.
She provided me with a high quality, well thought out, and clear set of her thoughts, from sentence structure, to verb use, point of view and even character enhancement. I could not be happier with the way she was so easy to work with.
I would highly recommend Kayla to anyone seeking to improve their writing or to assist anyone with any aspect of writing. Once I re-read my work with her suggestions and amendments, I could not believe how much better it sounded. She is fantastic!

Thorough and innovative advice, allowing me a fresh perspective to improve my novel
I contacted Kayla and she agreed to provide feedback on the first few pages of my novel. I wanted a fresh pair of eyes. She went beyond that. She promptly read my manuscript and contacted me.
Kayla doesn’t give blanket advice but encourages you to look deeper at your work so you are not simply fixing the problem areas but have the tools to improve the writing and engage the reader. Her feedback was thought-provoking without being overwhelming, due to gaining a clear idea of how to move forward. A friendly and approachable manner, she was keen to satisfy my needs as an author. She helps not by just addressing the basic and obvious problems, but also in highlighting the reasons why certain changes need to be made and explaining their importance.
I am excited at the prospect of forging ahead now, because all the bumps in the road have been pointed out. I have a very strong understanding of how to proceed! I wouldn’t hesitate to go to Kayla’s for manuscript-first-aid again.
